Early life and education

Omkar Prasad Baidya was born on 3 December 1984 in Agartala, Tripura, India. He completed his schooling at Shishu Bihar Higher Secondary School in Agartala, where he developed an early interest in science and human values.

He earned his MBBS degree in 2009 and completed his MD in Physiology in 2012 from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal, Manipur. Career

Baidya has served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology at ESIC PGIMSR and ESI Medical College in Joka, Kolkata. He has been involved in teaching, research, and academic development as a faculty member at a medical institute in Kolkata.

Alongside his medical career, he has developed a philosophical framework integrating biological science with ethical thought. His theory proposes two forms of morality:

  • Intrinsic morality – biologically embedded within living organisms
  • Extrinsic morality – shaped by social, cultural, and educational influences

He emphasizes virtues such as compassion, forgiveness, and nonviolence as essential for building a peaceful society and argues that global peace depends on the moral evolution of individuals.

Philosophy and intellectual contributions

Baidya’s work focuses on merging scientific reasoning with ethical philosophy.

In Morality Beyond the Human Brain: Scientific and Philosophical Exploration, he presents intrinsic morality as a natural property of living systems, suggesting that moral potential is part of evolutionary biology.

In Morality Beyond the Human Brain Part 2, he explores the interaction between innate and acquired morality and their role in human development.

His book A Path to World Peace discusses how human virtues can shape civilizations and proposes a universal ethical framework that transcends cultural and religious boundaries.

Overall, his philosophy presents morality as an inherent aspect of nature guided by a broader universal ethical order.
