Early Life

Rakesh Kumar Upadhyay was born on 1 March 1990 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. His father, Hemant Kumar Upadhyay, served as an administrative officer in the Irrigation Department, and his mother, Indu Devi, is a homemaker.

He completed his early education at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Gorakhpur. From a young age, he showed interest in academics, fitness, dholak playing, and shooting.

Education

Rakesh began his engineering studies in 2007 at Northern India Engineering College, Lucknow, where he pursued a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and graduated in 2011 with 73.7%.

In 2012, he qualified the GATE examination without coaching, securing an All India Rank of 2616 with 98 percentile. He later completed his Master of Technology in Control Systems from National Institute of Technology Patna in 2014 with 72.01%.

Currently, he is pursuing his PhD in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at National Institute of Technology Jalandhar under the Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme Phase-II.

Career

Rakesh Kumar Upadhyay has over 7–8 years of teaching experience in various government and private engineering institutions in Gorakhpur, including Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology.

As a professor, he focuses on inspiring students, building confidence, and encouraging holistic development beyond academics.

Apart from academics, he is a skilled dholak player and a dedicated bodybuilder. Without formal training or gym memberships, he has developed his fitness through self-discipline and consistency.
