Madhurendra Kumar was born on 5 September 1994 into a poor farming family in the rural village of Barwa Kala, located approximately 3 km west of the Ghodasahan Block Office in East Champaran, Bihar. His birthplace lies about 48 km from the district headquarters of East Champaran and approximately 182 km from Patna, the capital of Bihar.

His ancestral village, Bijbani, is situated around 6 km from Barwa Kala on the banks of the Aruna River, which connects the Ghodasahan and Bankatwa blocks. The village is located close to the Indo–Nepal international border. Growing up in this rural environment significantly influenced his artistic vision and his deep connection with nature, particularly river sand, which later became the primary medium of his internationally recognized sand sculptures.
