Dr.G.Magesh

G. Magesh (born 1 June 1984) is an Indian banking and finance professional with experience in operations management, vehicle finance, housing finance, insurance portfolio management, IT systems support, and accounting. He is currently serving as an Operations Manager at Equitas Small Finance Bank Ltd.

Early Life and Education

G. Magesh was born on 1 June 1984 in Kerala, India. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree from the University of Madras. He later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Bharathiar University.

He also holds a Diploma in Computer Applications (DCA) and has completed certifications in Tally Accounts, SQL Server (2005 & 2008), and National Cadet Corps (Grade A).

Career

Early Career

Magesh began his career in January 2004 with Shrachi Infrastructure Finance Ltd, Chennai, in the accounting department. His responsibilities included bank reconciliation, profit and loss statement preparation, contract closure accounting, insurance follow-ups, and coordination with channel partners such as HDFC and CFIL.

From January 2007 to May 2008, he worked at Cholamandalam DBS Finance Ltd, Chennai Head Office, in operations. His role involved document analysis, credit approval analysis, rate matrix analysis, MIS preparation, payment processing in Fin-One package, and pan-India branch coordination.

Between May 2008 and February 2012, he worked at Shriram City Union Finance Limited (SCUF), Chennai Head Office. He handled responsibilities in the Recovery Department and Information Technology Department. His IT responsibilities included SQL Server issue analysis, master data creation, user ID management, GL code linking, scheme modification, and coordination with development teams for system enhancements.

Equitas Small Finance Bank Ltd

On 2 March 2012, Magesh joined Equitas Private Finance Ltd, which later became Equitas Small Finance Bank. He started as a Senior Officer in Vehicle Finance and later progressed to Operations Manager.

His roles include:

• Managing disbursement operations across India.
• Handling discrepancies and payment releases.
• Brokerage payment processing.
• PDD (Post Disbursement Documentation) management.
• Disbursement analysis and MIS reporting.
• Insurance portfolio management.
• Death claim handling and NPA exposure recovery.
• Coordinating automation development with IT teams.
• Supporting reconciliation processes.
• Conducting audits including PSL (Priority Sector Lending) and Internal Audit (IAD).
• Team leadership and pan-India operational coordination.

He has managed vehicle finance portfolios exceeding ₹215 crores and handled multiple product lines including Vehicle Finance (VF), Housing Finance (HF), Retail, and Mortgage Overdraft (MOD).

Insurance Career

Magesh qualified as an insurance agent with The New India Assurance Company Limited (Teynampet branch), scoring 98% in the qualifying examination. He has handled insurance portfolio management including life and vehicle insurance tie-ups with companies such as Kotak, Birla, HDFC, ICICI, Cholamandalam, Shriram, and Oriental.

His responsibilities include:

• Ensuring 100% insurance coverage at disbursement.
• Coordinating medical checkups for high-value loans.
• Processing refunds for settled and cancelled contracts.
• Death claim settlements and loan account closures.
• Refund of excess amounts to legal heirs.
• Fortnightly commission payments to channel partners.
